CCC 850 The origin and purpose of mission. The Lord's missionary mandate is ultimately grounded in the eternal love of the Most Holy Trinity: "The Church on earth is by her nature missionary since, according to the plan of the Father, she has as her origin the mission of the Son and the Holy Spirit." The ultimate purpose of mission is none other than to make men share in the communion between the Father and the Son in their Spirit of love.
Established in 1891, St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church was the home to Italian migrants of Western New York. Today, she is now a canonical oratory under the Downtown Parish Family and continues to be the mother church of both Western New York and Southern Ontario's Italian-American & Latin communities in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Buffalo.
This oratory is under the Downtown Family of Parishes in the Diocese of Buffalo, NY. In collaboration with that Family, the St. Philip Neri House manages it. They are a group of clerics striving to establish an Oratory of St. Philip Neri in the diocese. To learn more about their religious community please go to (spnhouse.org).
These funds go to the maintenance of the Church building, Rectory, and Hall.
Feel free to visit during normal business hours.
